AAUW Tyler Strategic Plan 2024 – 2025+Mission: To advance gender equity for women and girls through research, education, and advocacy.
Vision: Equity for all.

EQUITY BEFORE GRADUATION

Objective: Address the barriers and implicit biases that hinder the advancement of women and girls in education.

Goals:

    • Provide scholarships, grants, and fellowships for women at the various levels of their academic journey.
    • Encourage compliance with Title IX and other civil rights laws.
    • Support STEM training across all academic levels.
    • Oversee programming that addresses negotiation skills through Start Smart online classes.

EQUITY AFTER GRADUATION

Objective: Address economic security for women throughout their post graduate lifespans.

Goals:

    • Implement programming on financial planning and social security/Medicare options.
    • Support programs that address re-training options.
    • Support or provide programming that addresses negotiation skills and job advancement through programs such as Work Smart online classes.
    • Support or provide programming that teaches women to defend against workplace harassment.

LEADERSHIP

Objective: Close the gender gap in leadership opportunities.

Goals:

    • Support businesses owned by women and other minorities.
    • Advocate for qualified women to serve on local boards and in local elected offices.
    • Collaborate with local groups to encourage women and girls in leadership roles.

GOVERNANCE & SUSTAINABILITY

Objective: Ensure the strength, relevance, and viability of AAUW well into the future.

Goals – Sustainability:

    • Retain 80% of existing membership.
    • Recruit and mentor a diverse membership targeting 10% new growth year over year.
    • Create a scalable new member engagement plan and apply to each new member.
    • Create and implement a scalable plan to convert existing complacent members to actively engaged members.
    • Encourage members to serve as branch leaders, providing the tools and training necessary.

Goals – Governance:

    • Utilize AAUW national and Texas resources when planning branch activities.
    • Encourage participation in both state and national AAUW programming.
    • Plan at least one purposeful action to meet each goal in the strategic plan once per fiscal year.

Goals – Finance:

    • Develop and follow a sound financial plan.
    • Support national AAUW fund-raising efforts.
    • Finance branch mission-related programming.
    • Raise funds for Tyler AAUW Scholarship Fund.
